WTS On Air | GreenTax Wednesdays
WTS On Air | GreenTax Wednesdays
We are pleased to invite you to the next edition of our GreenTax Wednesdays series on 27 May 2026. In this webinar, we will focus on the practical implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in companies, with particular emphasis on the verification of CO₂ emissions, the cost calculation of CBAM certificates and the impact on internal pricing and procurement decisions.
With the start of the definitive CBAM regime on 1 January 2026, CBAM has become much more than a reporting exercise. Importers must now prepare for the financial impact of CBAM, including the use of default values and benchmarks published by the European Commission for the definitive period, the distinction between default values and actual values, and the first officially published quarterly CBAM certificate price. For the first quarter of 2026, that published price is EUR 75.36 per certificate.
We are especially pleased to welcome Eva Pitterling from TÜV NORD CERT. She will contribute her hands-on perspective from verification and certification practice, in particular on how companies should prepare emissions data and documentation so that actual embedded emissions can stand up to external verification. The European Commission has made clear that, in the definitive regime, embedded emissions may be based on default values or actual values subject to verification by an accredited third-party verifier.
What you can expect:
- Overview of the current requirements of the definitive CBAM regime from 2026, including key deadlines and practical compliance implications.
- Practical guidance on the verification-readiness of CO₂ emissions data and on typical weaknesses in data collection, documentation and internal responsibilities.
- Insights from TÜV NORD CERT on what matters from a verifier’s perspective when preparing for CBAM-related emissions assurance and certification processes.
- Introduction to cost calculation and pricing under CBAM: how published certificate prices, embedded emissions, benchmarks, default values and carbon prices already paid in the country of origin affect the financial burden for importers.
- Practical discussion of how companies can translate CBAM requirements into workable internal processes across tax, customs, sustainability, procurement and controlling.
The webinar is aimed at companies importing CBAM goods and at all professionals involved in customs, tax, sustainability, procurement, finance, controlling and compliance who want to better understand the future cost impact of CBAM and prepare robust processes for emissions data, verification and certificate planning.
Please note: the webinar will be held in English.
Participation is free of charge – register now to secure your place.
We look forward to your participation.
Kind regards,
Your WTS GreenTax & Energy Team
